A Community Legal Centre providing free Legal advice

Toongabbie Legal Centre (TLC) started its operations on 13 October 2007 as a Saturday only community legal service. Since July 2009, TLC has offered Thursday evening legal service in addition to Saturdays. This is the fifth year of our continued service to the community.

During the last four years, TLC has had over 1,500 client visits assisting about 1,200 clients with issues such as consumer and community law, criminal law including domestic violence and victims of violence, traffic offences, family and employment law, property and tenancy law, debt collection, guardianship, neighbourhood disputes, discriminationand immigration.

TLC was formally launched on 8 July 2011 by the Federal Attorney General after its feasibility was tested and its service firmly established. We have now demonstrated that
TLC has strong roots in the community and attracts many dedicated volunteers who are solicitors, migration agents, law students and other complementary professionals such as educators, information technologists, social workers, financial experts and community
activists. We now function with the passionate involvement of over 100 volunteers.

Since 1 December 2011, TLC operated its Outreach Legal Service in Blacktown in the premises of St Patrick’s Church, Allawah Street and the facilities provided by CatholicCare.
